Looks like that styrofoam cup would fit nicely inside the Heineken can to save space and keep it from getting damaged.

The one liter Platy …
The one liter Platy bottles weigh .9 ounces. But then again they cost $7. So whether that .7 ounces is worth $7 is up to you
Aluminum is ” …
Aluminum is “reactive”.
It has the potential to be hazardous!
Not if you put it …
Not if you put it inside your Heineken cook pot.
Ah, the voice of …
Ah, the voice of reason, glad to hear someone who understands that reality is that if you give a rat 10,000,000 times more of ANYTHING than you will ever see in your lifetime, the rat will die.
Aluminum is hazardous. Yep, so use a plastic spoon so as to limit the amount of aluminum consumed, as Jasonklass already recommended for other reasons.
GREAT Vid Jasonklass, for a variety of reasons. Thank you for stating such great ways to recycle items one already has!
Thanks ftorresgamez …
Thanks ftorresgamez! Couldn’t have said it better myself. People act as if we’re using Aluminum or Styrofoam 24/7 when in reality, we’re using it so little that there’s no way it could have a health impact. You would have to use it all the time and (as you point out) in high concentrations) to be a health concern. Jeez, everyone’s paranoid of everything these days!
“Styrofoam is …
“Styrofoam is extremely hazardeous to your health, ”
Polystyrene is inert and does not react with food. You are lying. Aluminum is toxic IF taken in high concentrations - this is NOT the case with cans or cooking utensils. This is, at least, an exaggeration, and at worst, an intent to mislead and scare people.
Everything is bad …
Everything is bad for you! Driving under powerlines gives you Cancer. Using a computer gives you carpal tunnel syndorome. I hardly think that drinking out of a styrofoam cup infrequently is going to make much of a difference. We probably all do much worse things to our bodies on a daily basis. If you’re so alarmist, then you should just drop out of society and live off the land in Alaska or something. C’mon man!
Styrofoam is …
Styrofoam is extremely hazardeous to your health, so is aluminum. I have been involved with medical research into this matter. Don’t use it for you food or drinks!
You’re fun Jason! …
You’re fun Jason! Thx for relieving my spork-anxiety. Instead of trekking off to REI, I’m off to Taco Bell.
Hamm, some folks …
Hamm, some folks are using fiberglass drywall tape. Others are using fiberglass wick. Either one insulates the pot so you can grab the pot with bare hands. There are vids on YouTube showing both, that’s how I learned about it.
great video. on the …
great video. on the heine pot you have something around it. what is it?
that cup would …
that cup would break so quickly in your pack
The coffee bag/ …
The coffee bag/trash bag idea is a good one…but…I have another suggestion for you…..If you eat the Mountain House meals or other freeze dried meals you can use them as a trash bag. They have the ziplock seal plus you’re already carrying it because it contains your food, so you don’t have to bring the extra bag just for trash….I’ve tried the styrofoam cup once and I crushed it the first day…lol

We have the fitted …
We have the fitted lids for the nalgene bottles and others for use with the water firlters MSR but have not used them as for us sticking the hose in the container works just as well if not better.
Plus we have found that the fitted lids sometimes become stuck in the container if pressed on too hard,
Thanks

awesome tips. i …
awesome tips. i like the heineken mug. i’ll definitely use this.
all aluminium cans …
all aluminium cans have this lining. It is to prevent the contents to react with the aluminium. As long as you don’t heat the pot with nothing in it you’re fine. So basically dont pour out your food and then sit the can back on the stove.
Yeah but how much …
Yeah but how much does that stuff cost you? two? three cents each? If he buys something you’ll be making waaay more that you’ll lose
