   this is a good start:
   Two pairs of disposable gloves
   Sterile dressings to stop bleeding
   Cleansing agent/soap and antibiotic towelettes to disinfect
   Antibiotic ointment to prevent infection
   Burn ointment
   Adhesive bandages in a variety of sizes
   Eye wash solution to flush the eyes or as general decontaminant
   Scissors
   Over-the-counter medicines such as Aspirin or other pain reliever, laxative, anti-diarrhea medication
   Prescription medications you take every day such as insulin, heart medicine, or asthma inhaler
   Prescribed medical supplies such as glucose monitoring equipment or blood pressure monitors

   Most basic first aid websites will have a list.

   However in mine I have:

   2 crepe bandages
   Safety Pins
   Tape
   Rubber gloves
   Scissors
   Antiseptic Wipes
   Plasters
   Dressings of various sizes
   Wasp/Bee sting cream
   Ibuprofen Gel
   Paracetamol
   Antiseptic Cream

   I would recommend:

   1. Band-Aids
   2. Gauze
   3. Antibacterial ointment
   4. One of those ice-packs that you twist and become cold
   5. Hand sanitizer
   6. Ace bandage
   7. Flashlight (if you’re injured, or someone else and it’s at night, or dark)

   Sunscreen (human and horse, or zinc cream)
   Aloevera cream
   Vaseline (Chapped lips, chafing on you and your horse)

   Insect sting cream (sting-goes or something like that)

   Thermometer
   Epsom Salts
   Emergency Phone Numbers (written on your paper)
   Bandages (both sticky ones, and non sticky ones)

   Animal Poultice
   A drink bottle with water (change the water regularly. Mix with salt or dettol to wash wounds)
   Salt (table salt will do)
   Band-aids (come in handy)
   String
   Lighter and Needle in a little case (use the lighter to sterilize the needle, then can be used to get out grass seeds etc)

   Some kind of wound dressing(I like Corona), Petroleum Jelly, Thermometer(don’t forget a rope to tie on to it if it isn’t digital), liniment, Epsom salt, Alcohol, betadine scrub, Gauze(about 2" is good), 12" roll of absorbent cotton, two rolls of vet wrap(or stretch adhesive/cohesive), adhesive tape(1" is best), Scissors that can cut through bandages, and standing wraps.

   All of the previous answers pretty much cover everything you need. I would like to add two more must-haves for my first aid kit (sorry if someone already said these…):

   1) Vet Wrap
   2) Pads (yes, like what you might use every month).

   Vet wrap and pads will cover alot of injuries. For example - you throw a show and don’t have an easy boot and you’re in the middle of nowhere. Wrap vetwrap around the hoof, under, around several times and you have a temporary easyboot that will help prevent bruising. Another example: say your horse (or you!) receives a very deep cut from, say, a broken branch. Wrap the pad around the wound, then hold it on with vet wrap. This will slow the bleeding long enough to get help.
