Los Angeles is located on the Pacific coast of Southern California and is regarded as the second most populous city in the US. Stretching eastwards at around 160 km, you could locate 100 independent cities which include Long Beach. While taking time out to enjoy the view, you may also look forward to healthy outdoor options.

1. Bayshore Roller Hockey Rink. This facility was made to give way for one of the sports gaining recognition these days which is roller hockey. You can find this rink between the ocean and Alamitos Bay. You will definitely get those hockey shoes on and enjoy the meaning of the game.

2. Long Beach Sportfishing. Fishing is an activity most people do for fun. Sportfishing is done in the same way but with the sports word attached to it. This simply means that you are bound to have a healthy manner of conducting it. As you are exploring the harbors of Los Angeles and Long Beach, you will have a taste of what it means to do salt-water fishing. Bring along your tennis shoes with you for you to have a safe catch.

3. Kayaks on the Water. This is a place which is open to both single and team kayakers. This is a convenient place to have the sports as there is little traffic along the waters. From the starting point, you may gear your trip to Starbucks, Naples island canals or even the wildlife park.

4. Peter Archer Rowing Center. Just like the Bayshore Roller Hockey Rink, this one is found along the Alamitos Bay. They conduct summer camps for both junior high and high school students. They offer instructions on the basics of rowing and the rest of the things you must know about the activity.

5. Skylinks Golf Course. Patterned after the custom eighteen-hole design of a golf course, the Skylinks Golf Course could be your partner in enjoying the outstanding greens as well as the refreshing fairways. This is a spot where you could practice the fundamentals of golf as well as enhance your existing skills.

6. Sunland Skate Park. This skating option could be found at the Sunland Recreation Center. The management will offer you all the things you need to protect yourself from playing like helmets and elbow and knee pads.

7. Temescal Gateway Park. If you want to work your feet out, the Temescal Gateway Park is one of the worthwhile places to spend your time. With their offerings of several miles for hiking, you will be led to the beauty of nature. There are surprisingly amazing views all around from canyons and creeks to waterfalls and a panoramic view of the entire city as well as the Pacific Ocean.

8. Angeles National Forest. This is an ideal spot for travelers as well as from people living within the area. They offer a variety of recreational activities. Picnic may be one of the best things you would enjoy from the place but you could extend your pleasure to swimming and fishing. Mountain bikers and equestrians may also enjoy this attraction.

9. Spokes ‘N Stuff Bike Rental. Whether you are a traveler who wants to take pleasure of the sceneries around Los Angeles-Long Beach or a local wanting to work out, renting bikes is possible in the area. This place will surely cater to your biking needs which will make you enjoy the action for a fee of $8 to $20 for the whole day.

10. Griffith Park Horse Rental. If you are craving to do an extraordinary activity that will make you see the wonders of the environment, you may have a horseback riding experience through this place. Your kids under 6 years old may have ponies for themselves as well. Just ask for assistance as this is a very delicate activity.

First 9 Months Sleep Advice

The most dreadful thing about having a new baby is the lack of sleep resulting from the night feeds. But by six months most babies do not need a night time feed if they have fed well during the day and are not ill.

When your baby is a newborn, after spending 9 months in a nice snug place, sometimes the adjustment to the outside world can cause more night waking than just hunger. It is important to remember newborn babies cannot differentiate night or day, so it will take time for them to fall into a pattern. However, it is perfectly possible to have them sleeping through the night by six months.

Making sure your baby is ready to sleep is most important. With newborns, they will mostly drift off to sleep when they are ready but from around 3 months this can change and they may need you to notice the signs of tiredness and help them to settle.

Ready to Sleep Checklist

Is your baby well fed, clean and dry?

Is your baby not feeling well? It can either make babies sleep more or make them find it hard to sleep.

Watch out for the cue? Some babies yawn, rub their eyes or pull their ears when they are tired, watch for signs.

Is your baby too tired? If your baby is overtired, it is very hard for the baby to settle down due to too much stimulation and lack of sleep. A nice dim lighted room, soothing music and a massage can help your baby to drift off to sleep. Try to catch your baby before he/she becomes overtired will also help.

If your baby is most of these he or she will most likely be ready for a sleep.

Try to balance the amount of nap time your baby takes during the day so that its easier for him/her to fall asleep at night. If your baby is waking up a lot at night and you do not think its due to hunger, he/she may be sleeping too much in the day or the last nap time is too close to the night sleeping time. Make necessary adjustment.

Does your baby sleeping place help encourage a more settled sleep. Is the room warm but not too warm? Is the room very lighted? Is the room noisy?

Help your baby differentiate day and night. When baby take naps in the day, it is not necessary to close all certain or off the sound of the tv. At night, have a bedtime routine, dim the room and keep sounding sound soft. This will help the baby understand the different between a nap and night time sleeping.

Swaddling your baby or putting the baby in s baby sleeping bag sometimes help. The baby will feel more secure but not all babies like it. Some may refuse to be swaddled.

Having a bedtime routine can help as well. Giving your baby a nice lukewarm bath, a baby massage with some oil followed by a breastfeed or a warm bottle of milk in a dim lit room, perhaps even with some low music playing will help your baby realise that its sleeping time now.

Avoid rocking, petting or feeding the baby to sleep. Your baby can begin to rely on whichever as the only way he/she can settle to sleep, so whenever your baby wakes up, he/she would need you to provide whichever aid they are used to sleeping with. Place your baby in bed before they fall asleep and let them begins to learn how to settle off to sleep by themselves.

So, you are getting ready for an upcoming camping trip and are thinking about the “essentials” for your weekend in the woods. You probably have all of your gear for setting up a camp site including a tent, sleeping bag and other equipment. You are also probably thinking about cooking, bathing and even some “luxuries” like communication and any emergency needs.

This is a wise approach to an enjoyable weekend or camping trip because many people forget about some of the more difficult realities while they prepare for a vacation. For example, what will you do in the event of a medical emergency? While you may know that a hospital is about twenty miles from the camp site, the problem may be that you have no idea how to find the hospital! What kind of facilities are at the location? Will there be hot water? What kind of lighting will be available?

Luckily modern technology can provide solutions and answers to all of these questions through solar powered products, and a frequent camper would be wise to invest in some of the best solar powered camping essentials.

Beginning with communications; like millions of other consumers you probably have a cell phone, mobile device or GPS. Each of these remarkable gadgets can function in a wide number of ways, but each of them also requires a fully charged battery. The problem then is just how to charge a battery in the middle of the woods? The answer is a portable solar charger. These are lightweight and completely portable solar panels that are constructed of durable and flexible materials that will provide a small, personal electronic device with a full charge. Some backpackers will even drape the waterproof units over the exterior of their pack and use it to feed their GPS with a constant charge throughout the day! This is also great for emergency situations where a cellular phone or other device may be required to call for help. Often times, a good solar charger may be your only life line when out in the wilderness.

The next area where solar equipment can help out on a camping trip is lighting. There are an enormous range of solar powered lamps and lights that can provide up to twelve hours of service on a single charge. This saves campers from lugging the significantly heavier, battery powered units traditionally used in the woods, and it also eliminates any concerns about running out of light when batteries die.

Finally, one of the most enjoyable experiences provided by solar power on a camping trip is a hot shower. Specially treated bags can be filled with ice cold stream water and left in the sun for a few hours where the bag superheats the water and provides a steaming hot shower for a lucky camper!

When you want to give a gift that is something special and can say just the right thing, what better way is there than making it personalize. Today, you can find so many gift ideas on the Internet, and many of them are customized gifts. There are different ways to customize groomsmen gifts, and the most popular is by means of engraving. Specialty online stores have skilled engravers that will personalize you unique gifts with a message, name, date and even company name and logo, with any variety of styles.

Many online stores can accommodate virtually any gift-giving occasion by offering plenty of gift selection that will be both meaningful and memorable. So if you are planning to give each of your groomsmen a gift, your first stop should be an online store. You can find many custom products that can make a great groomsmen gift, such as engraved flasks, beer mugs, cigar cases, lighters, cufflinks, money clips, pocket watches and pocket knives. These can all be personalized with thank, jokes or just names and dates. And for those who are sports enthusiasts, you can also give engraved sports-related gifts.

You can also find office-elated gifts for your professional groomsmen. There are a wide selection of engraved business items, from business card holders, letter openers, bookends, desk organizers and the likes. You can choose whether you want to engrave a company name, a word of encouragement or advice, or the monograms of your groomsmen. This can make an inexpensive and practical way of giving a touch of elegance to everyday acts of doing business.

Online stores have a selection that is full of gifts that are both timeless and one of a kind, and all at prices that make personalized gifts inexpensive again. If you want to save money on your groomsmen gifts, consider shopping online. However, do remember that you don’t want to buy similar pieces of gifts for your groomsmen, because they don’t have similar likes, interests and lifestyle. Make your present unique and truly a keepsake by adding your own personal touch.

A great choice of groomsmen gifts can mark the wedding occasion that is being celebrated. So to make this possible, give personalized gifts. You may have a special statement engraved on the item to capture the moment. Engraved groomsme gifts can include anything from sports memorabilia to household products such as decorative silverware or glassware. Jewelry such as a lapel pin, necklace slide, wrist watches and pocket watches can make a perfect keepsake to each of your buddies.

You may also give personalized gifts for men that are cool to give for a groomsman who love the outdoors. If he travels a lot, give him a monogrammed luggage. Or perhaps, a personalized grooming kit. If he spend his weekend at the gym, why not give an embroidered gym bag? And for the one who love hiking, camping and fishing there are plenty of gifts for him like outdoor kits for his favorite hobby. You can also give personalized cooler chairs, bags or backpacks to your groomsmen. Any of those will provide them a fun time together with their family at the park.

I have considered shipping my gear by UPS etc. to a local office, then flying out there and picking up my gear at the shipping office. Are there other options like renting gear? Should I just drive?

Actually, you can rent gear at any REI store - and pretty cheaply. I would think that in the Rockies there would be numerous small mom & pop outfitters that would rent as well. Google the area you’re hoping to head to, find a pinpoint on the Google map, and click on the "Search Nearby" link and look for a store that might be able to help or offer local advice.

Shipping is fine too - I’d find a Kinko’s store (they are part of FedEx now) near your destination airport, and see if they’ll hold a box or two for you. For the $15-20 fee for checked bags, that may be cheaper / easier. The only thing you’d need to ship ground would be fuel canisters - or pick them up when you get to your destination.
