  1. Need help with choosing a wedding gift…?
I have a wedding to go to in a few weeks. I just realized that I hadn’t bought a gift yet. The bride and groom are registered at Crate and Barrel and Bloomies. Everything on their C&B list is fulfilled. What’s left on the Bloomies one are things I can definitely NOT afford. Ranging from $150-550 dollars for single items. Or place settings for $60, which I can do but that seems cheap, right? My husband is a teacher and I’m a SAHM so we are on one income and really, really tight with money. The wedding is a black tie optional wedding. I want to get the couple something nice but somewhat affordable, at least no more than $75. Please help!!! I’ve checked Red Envelope, etc…and can’t find anything decent. Do you think wedding couples really hate monogrammed frames? Is that too cheap?

  2. It’s the sentiment behind the gift, not how much it costs. If you like the picture frame then give it. If they think it’s cheap then that is their issue and problem, not yours.

  3. Go to a gift store (Hallmark is a good one), get them a crystal vase or bowl and a card. You can pick them up for around $30-$45. Crystal is a good wedding gift.

  4. I wouldn’t want a monogrammed frame. I think 1 place setting would be nice. If you think that’s cheap, get 2. People at those stores notify the couple when the registry is almost fulfilled, so they can add more things (and more affordable ones)…so maybe they are just hoping to get money.

  5. take there invitation and get it put in glass with a nice saying very cheep and not allot of people think to do it..they will love it

  6. I think it’s fine to give the place settings for $60- I don’t think that is too cheap and it is obviously something that they wanted. Or, if you are worried, you could always add something small to this such as a small photo frame or some champagne flutes to go with it.

  7. It’s the thought that counts, not the pricetag. It is not your fault that they didn’t choose anything in a lower price range that more people could afford. $60 is not considered cheap unless you are Paris Hilton.

  8. You do not have to buy where a couple register. Just go to the Mall and look around, at the price you can afford. They should understand about money wise. And, if they snub your gift, then they are not true friends or family.

  9. I always wanted grocery gift cards so we could shop and stock our pantries..

  10. Get a gift card that they can spend anywhere, and write a little note about how it is intended to purchase whatever they did not get for a present, or any thing else their heart desires.
If you want to buy a small gift, like a nice frame for a cheap price[think the store Tuesday Mornings] and include the gift card, that is fine, too. A single place setting would be fine, wrap it nicely, and look around for a little trinket to tie into the bow, maybe an engraved keychain from things remebered. Or go to your local party store for something, ours sells plastic wedding trinkets, like rings, cakes, for under a buck.
Spend only what your budget allows.

  13. Just remember. Dont give them anything with a pointed edge, like knives, scissors.. etc..

How about a gift voucher for a dinner for two? And a card..

Or buy something that you can get engraved, and choose something meaning full to put on it. Even just a picture frame that they can put their wedding picture in.

  14. As long as it’s not on their list and already taken - I would get them a his and hers bath robe set and monogram their new initials on the pockets. We got that for our wedding and we love it. (We got too many picture frames and bath towels and wine glasses so stay away from those items!) Maybe you could get them a board game? My brother bought us a fancy version of monopoly and we love that too!

  16. It doesnt matter how cheap it is. Its the thought that counts and that it doesnt look cheap. I was going to suggest a frame. I found this beautiful pearlized wedding picture frame. Yes it was cheap but it looked beautiful. You need to go to 1 of 2 type stores. 1. the kind that sell rugs and candles etc., you know the home furnishing store, you’ll find something in there. 2.The all department department store. Go to the area that has towels and rugs and ceramics and dishes and glassware. Also go to a Hallmark store look for their ceramics. Plain white dishes with a modern shape always go with everything. Last but not least get them a nut cracker set or a cheese set. You know the set has the wooden board, the special knife that looks funny on the end, the slicer etc. Good Luck.

  17. I think they would love getting as many of their place settings as possible. I also think it was vert smart of the bride to choose place settings that are affordable. Some choose $200 or more. Do not feel guilty about getting her place setting. That’s a wonderful gift she will will love.
