    It’s called a rucksack, it’s not as tall and sticks out real far…. unless you’re talking about the new plastic framed/ACU rucks. They’re a little taller but can’t hold the 70-100 lb loads for .

    If that’s the case jake you are taking the wrong pack for your type of trip.

    Anything with no waist straps are daypacks for day trips.

    Even daypacks often have some kind of chest strap or waist strap.

    Did this in basic training last year for the army and now i love backpacking…to bad my pack I had to carry my gear in had no hip strap so all the weight was on my sholders…
